Tales from a personal shopping life 27/3/16……..monochrome and sherbet!

Happy Easter everyone I hope the chocolate is flowing!

It has been a very busy few days in the shopping suite (House of Fraser Manchester) with even more lovely customers.

Thursday was a very busy day and full of fun! First of all I had a regular customer who had her step daughters wedding looming, she said to me “no pressure Linda but I am not leaving without an outfit which I know you will find” Well I have to say it really wasn’t that difficult, even though she is a very petite lady, she left with a beautiful outfit. She also left me with a challenge, her daughters wedding is September and the colours are lavender and yellow!! The challenge is on.

Thursday evening brought me a lady who works in private banking and after a little chat we realised that we knew the same people from Ernst & Young where we had both worked. It is a very small world indeed.

She was such an easy lady to dress and she certainly bought!!, here are a few of the purchases.

Friday brought me a lovely lady who is celebrating her 60th birthday with a black & white themed party, I do love monochrome. A dress that she could wear again was the order of the day and this is the one she bought.

Saturday brought me a lovely lady with a voucher from her husband and she decided that a jumpsuit to wear in Rome was what she needed along with wedges.

Not a problem she looked beautiful in this one.

What has caught my eye this week?? Well as you guess there is always something!!

There is a  white voile top from French Connection in store (House of Fraser Manchester) that has a certain Parisian air about it but I have searched the internet for it and I cant find it!!! You will have to wait until Wednesday for this one, I will find it!!!!

Staying with the Parisian vibe I love this skirt, so pretty and it would go with the French Connection Top.

I am completely in love with this dress from Finery London, it is gorgeous and reminds me of sherbet! (two shades the back is pale pink yummy)

Well I shall leave you now to enjoy the rest of the bank holiday weekend, for me it’s business as usual tomorrow.

I shall see you again on Wednesday with more news.

Tales from a personal shopping life 28/2/16…………….

Time flies, my bi-weekly updates seem to come around very quickly.

It has been a beautifully sunny week which always lifts my spirits and it is light when I leave for work on a morning! BONUS!

I have had a great few days in store since I spoke to you last, there are lots of nice pieces appearing. (for me as well as my customers!)

On Thursday I finally wore my Whistles culottes, I have had them awhile and finally found the perfect Kurt Geiger shoes to go with them (I have had them ages too). This was the result:

Culottes by Whistles Cropped Sweatshirt by French Connection White Collar by COS Shoes by Kurt Geiger.

My first customer arrived in a whirlwind of gym gear and sheer enthusiasm! She had 45 minutes to spare and declared she was going to a conference and needed smart casual clothes urgently. Forty minutes later she left with 2 Whistles dresses, 2 French Connection Tops and an Oasis long cardigan, a very happy lady!

This is one of the dresses and it is so flattering and is available in quite a few colourways.

Next up was a lady with a very grown up job, a Consultant Anaesthetist, she definitely did not like anything “girly” She commented that she was relived I was wearing  culottes etc and not something girly!! Another happy customer when she left with a leather skirt and new tops.

On Friday I had the pleasure of Jordana who is the new personal shopper in Leeds. A very lovely and stylish young lady (we share a great love of COS) so if anyone is thinking about a personal shop House of Fraser in Leeds you will not be disappointed.

We had the honour of meeting an 82 year old lady who wanted an outfit for her granddaughters wedding. She was very specific on the colour, it had to be the colour of the scarf she was wearing, thankfully Hobbs had just the dress and jacket. She was adamant she wasn’t wearing a “fantasiser” she did laugh when she realised it was fascinator!! After trying the dress she sat in the Toms Champagne Bar and enjoyed a drink whilst listening to the piano. A really lovely lady!

Saturday brought another lady who was semi retired and needed clothes other than suits and scruffy!! (her words not mine!)

She bought quite a few things but this Marella dress was the star and we teamed it with a Whistles long cardigan.

I have to admit that even though I am still being very good, (that means I haven’t bought anything this week) there are quite few things that have caught my eye!!

Now it os time for my mini obsessions, this dress by Marella is gorgeous and it will look great with all of my pretty shoes!!

Marella Lace Dress £210 here

If the strap on this Whistles Chase bag is long enough then this could be my “perfect” cross body bag (the search is endless!!)

I also love this dress from Zara, it is very cute and once again I do have the ankle boots to wear with it, although a white pair would look better (oops don’t have a white pair!!)

I think it is only right I finish with my favourite image from the Prada Autumn Winter show, as you all know I do love PRADA

See you all in Paris! (Chanel, Valentino & Miu Miu!!)

Tales from a personal shopping diary 16/2/16

Its that time of the week again a day off and as always I have lots to say.

Since I spoke to you last I have had so many lovely customers and all of them so different.

Last Thursday I had a very lovely young lady who wanted to update her work wardrobe, she was tall and slim but didn’t see her self that way at all.

This black Izzey dress from Whistles certainly changed her mind, she looked amazing!  I would  recommend this dress to anyone the side gathering  makes for a very flattering dress indeed.

Saturday is always busy and I do look forward to them, I always try to wear something special. I wore a top and boots by Isabel Marant with Zara jeans and it felt great. It certainly inspired the four lovely ladies that came on Saturday afternoon I replicated the outfit from brands in store. They drank champagne in honour of a birthday in their midst and bought lots of new clothes. They have even rebooked for early May, another appointment full of giggles.

Yesterday I had a lovely surprise a rather nice bottle of champagne was delivered to store from a very kind customer. A huge thank you as it was very much appreciated.

Tuesday morning brought another delightful customer who is returning to work next week. A lady with two children under 3 and one aged 7 just the shopping time alone was a treat for her as she hadn’t shopped for herself properly for quite a few years. It was lovely to see her confidence grow as each outfit was chosen. Warehouse and Oasis certainly performed well for this lady.

The Chinese God of Wealth has been in store all day (House of Fraser) with his entourage and I have to say he looked rather grand but very friendly. They came to have a look around my shopping suite and thought it was very nice, apparently better than others they have seen!

This afternoon brought a serious life lesson in the form of a phone call. A terminally ill lady wanted an appointment to choose an outfit to get married in, she is coming to see me in two weeks and gets married at the end of March. She is planning the wedding at very short notice with such enthusiasm that I found it infectious. I will definitely ensure she has a very special time finding her special outfit.

Afterwards it made me think how easy it is to think we have real problems when in reality most things we worry about are rubbish. Our health is everything and I for one will be looking after mine a little better.

Watch this space in two weeks as Clarins have invited me to have a facial and a makeover, I will tell you all about it.

You might now be thinking about the obsessions I usually have with shoes or bags, well this week it is this Saint Laurent bag, I spotted it online at Mytheresa when I was in Peru but it has jumped up the ranks once more!! Such beauty!

The cold shoulder is everywhere this season and this LBD from Whistles is perfect. I would wear it to work with ankle boots now or something colourful and pretty as the weather warms up.

Well the weather certainly meant I have had a quiet start to the week, people don’t want to shop in the rain!! I decided to use my time to make sure the shopping suite was looking clean and shiny and redressed the mannequins.

I brought a jar of shells back from Peru so that I could have a little piece of paradise with me everyday. ( they were collected for me) They are going to live in my room and  the “Lima Dreaming” will be strong!

My beautiful shells

I have spent a lot of time browsing the internet this week checking the new season arrivals, even if we don’t sell it in store I can always reproduce a trend with the brands I have. Biba have a great tan skirt, it looks like suede but it isn’t but the drape is perfect.

There was much excitement on Monday when I found the Isabel Marant Drew boots in a dark red, I thought briefly that they could be “the ones” but  I am going to hold out for the green pair that I keep going on about! (I really hope they appear soon)

Tales from a personal shopping life 7/2/16

Here we are it’s Sunday again and another day off! It’s been a very quiet few days     the shopping suite, but not for me, I have been checking all of the new season stock in store. There are quite a few must have’s on my list too apart from a pair of Isabel Marant Drew boots (I know I mention them almost daily!!)

Yesterday I wore my new Zara frayed jeans with my Valentino’s and a Whistles funnel neck top. I must say I just loved the look!

It is always interesting to talk to the concession managers instore and this week I did catch up with Whistles and as always they have some gorgeous pieces in store, I love this Bardot white shirt, it is going to work with the frayed jeans.

This Pink Suede Irvington Clutch £90 is also on my hit list

Kurt Geiger is always on my visit list every day, especially at the moment as there are so many new pairs of gorgeous flats in store, these are all on my wishlist:

Tales from a personal shopping life 31/1/16

Well I have now completed my first week back at work, the tan is already fading!! It has been a great week and since I wrote last I have had some more fun.

Wednesday was my day off so it was off to the hairdresser to have a much needed cut and colour, I now feel less beach and more city!!

Then I tried on so many things in Zara and bought this denim dress and it is so cute.

Oversized Dress £29.99 This little piece will work with both pairs of boots that I have included and will look just perfect.

Next it was a trip to Selfridges for a good look around especially at the shoes!! I was a little  disappointed that the Isabel Marant Drew boots weren’t there (sad face) but I did try a great pair of Miu Miu pumps. (when I say great I actually couldn’t breath I was so excited)

I will probably include this photo of the green Drew boots until I find them or lose all hope!! I know that sounds dramatic but you cant imagine how much I would like these boots, they have turned into the Holy Grail!!

Will I regret not buying the beautiful Miu Miu pumps

I also tried this rather lovely jumpsuit on in Whistles I would like to buy it but I need those Drew boots.

The back detail is gorgeous and it looks lovely with a tan! HELP

On thursday I had an encounter with a very lovely and elegant lady who needed a chocolate brown cashmere jumper to wear with skirt she had bought last year. I found the jumper for her and now I am going to send her photos of everything I think she might like. Projects like this are amazing for me I just love to look for clothes for other people.

The “mother of the bride” season is well and truly underway as I have had a few this week, it is incredibly satisfying when they stand in there full regalia looking happy. It is the very beginning of the season so I know I have numerous more to come over the next few months.

Saturday is always a fun day but a very busy day and yesterday was no exception, I had a repeat customer yesterday afternoon, she always buys multiple pairs of shoes!! That can only be classed as a dream client!!

The day always ends on the same note the King of Peru always meets me in Toms Champagne Bar, which is conveniently situated outside of my personal shopping suite and we have a drink. I look forward to his appearance at the end of a busy day.
