I had a mini adventure today; I was invited to The Dressing Room Boutique in St Albans and so feeling very intrepid I set off for St Pancras Station. I have never passed through this station before and was amazed that it doesn’t look anything like another train station in this country. There are a huge amount of shops and cafes and its light and airy, very impressed. I want to use the Eurostar now, next stop Paris.
Only 20 minutes out of London is St Albans and The Dressing Room and I must say it is a boutique well worth visiting. It was established in 2005 and has won many industry awards for both the shop and the website. Deryane Tadd owns the boutique; she exudes a laid back chic vibe and is totally charming. Deryane does all of the buying and she has an amazing eye, which you will realise after a visit.
The boutique stocks some amazing brands with excellent price points, there are certainly a lot of my favourites in there, American Vintage, Antik Batik, Star Mela, Maison Scotch, J Brand, Current Elliott, Ash… and many more. I have to add to this that The Dressing Room is a major American Vintage stockist, look at the rainbow of colours on display.
The shop is laid out on a curve, this allows more combinations of colour/styles to be seen and feeds the customer ideas without anyone speaking.
The sense of space and colour is everywhere; there are pots of nail polish next to clothes and jewellery.
There is no end to what they offer; you have found you dress, now let’s find the jewellery, the shoes and maybe a scarf.
If you cast your eyes up you will see the gorgeous photos on the wall, Audrey has pride of place amongst many others.
Last but most certainly not least, the staff at The Dressing Room are utterly charming, incredibly helpful and make you feel most welcome for the duration of your visit.
